Well, I'd like to see what the perfect "average" draw is for any character from a statistical analysis.
I was merely choosing mostly major cards and some minor cards and mixing up the choices randomly (but sure to include two power attacks).
Look, my point is, even against decks that aren't Obi, Maul and Mace, he doesn't have a game as you would describe. We can talk ideal situations for both sides of the coin, but IMO, at the end of day, Vader always has the short end of the stick. I will concede that given the best draw possible for Vader against the worst draw possible for his opponents, he will win. Vader's deck is certainly capable of winning with certain conditions, but overall and in general, I maintain that he is ineffective. I have already stated reasons he is ineffective above. It seems we disagree slightly on what his "path to victory" is, but even so, whatever paths you pick and choose out of his cards, they aren't supported well enough. And that is crux of the issue as to why his deck sucks.
We can describe specific situations and conditions and provide counter example after counter example with other specific situations, but I think Vader's record in the EDOL speaks for itself...
vs Anakin: 2-7
vs Boba: 1-5
vs Dooku: 0-6
vs Emp: 1-4 (I'm surprised by this one)
vs Han: 7-3 (yep, Remote was right there...)
vs Jango 2-2 (Remote was right again...this matchup is pretty fair)
vs Luke 6-4
vs Mace 0-0 (wow...no record of this matchup??)
vs Maul: 0-6
vs Yoda: 1-3
That's a combined record of 18-40, or a 0.310 winning percentage. He wins less than 1/3 of the time! He's got a winning record against Luke and Han, and it's pretty easy to see why; his direct damage, YSANC and Red deck line up perfectly against them (I admit I missed seeing that on my first post). Against Jango it's pretty even, and I'd wager his chances hinge on where Choke ends up in the shuffled deck. But, outside of those bottom of the barrel decks (perhaps Luke and Jango deserve their own discussion of what's wrong with them), he stands no chance. Against the remaining 8 (well 7, since there's no data against Mace) decks, his record is a paltry 5-30, or a 0.143 winning percentage.
So, I'm just not seeing how Vader has any kind of chance against any of the non-crappy decks.
Darth Trumpetus...trumpeter of fury.
