The timing of this post is uncanny. In my non-ED life, I'm currently trying to figure out how viable it is to create and release podcasts for my brass quintet. Our trickiest hurdle thus far is acquiring the licensing from ASCAP and BMI to "perform" the works that are registered/copyrighted with them on the podcast (yes, they consider a podcast of a performance just another performance for which you need to purchase a separate licensing agreement).

Anyway, I just put together my first podcast over the weekend for the quintet, but it remains to be seen if it will ever see the light of day (for the curious it costs a minimum of $300/year to get an online podcast license from ONE of these companies...and if the performances weren't ours....we'd be paying even more to the copyrighted owners of the recordings).

In any case, I think it would be really cool to release some sort of bi-weekly podcast. I have some nice audio editing software that I'm beginning to get a good handle on. Heck, if someone were to organize it, we could have a different person release one each time. There are all kinds of things we could put in a podcast...and since it's ED, it needn't be too long. Perhaps Gydra could do the first one, then Rich could do one, then I could do one...and we sort of rotate?

Darth Trumpetus...trumpeter of fury.
