The EDOL will be moving to a new format. Here is the latest post copied/pasted here.

QUOTE
Well, we've hinted at it for quite some time now, and the Jedi Council
has been deliberating for months about restructuring the way the EDOL
works. We'd like to thank Fishfleas for his suggestions and input,
and pointing us to the format of other gaming groups. We are very
happy to present the following format changes. For the full detailed
rules, please visit the Files section and click on the "New EDOL
Rules" text file. What is presented here, are just the major changes
to the way the EDOL will function, so if questions arise, please read
the detailed rules first. The reasons we are bringing about these
changes are as follows:

1. No-shows and drop outs will never go away, and they are hurting the
tournaments in the later rounds. So, a format where drop outs don't
negatively affect the league is preferable.

2. No-show forfeit points are annoying for the Jedi Council to hand
out, and annoying to receive, thus a format that avoids this is
preferable.

3. An on-going structure where people are free to duel as often or as
little as they like, against opponents of their choosing is also more
preferable, in order to give people more of a choice when dueling in
the league.

Therefore, we are moving the EDOL to a ladder structure. We looked at
some other gaming groups that use a ladder structure, and after
careful deliberation, we have adapted them for use with Epic Duels.
Here are the basic ways it will work:

1. Players will signup in the database section to participate in the
EDOL Ladders. Signups remain open indefinitely, and players can come
and go as they choose. Players will be able to turn in as many duels
as they want against whoever else is signed up in the Ladder Database
(can only turn in 1 duel per day against the same opponent). There
will be a monthly ladder and an all-time ladder. At the beginning of
the month, the monthly ladder will reset, but the all-time ladder is
"on-going."

2. The point structure and dueling setup will remain the same, ie,
random draws, swapping characters, 2 points for a win, 0 for a loss,
etc. However, if a player voluntarily forfeits to you, you will earn
2 points for each half of the match they forfeit (thus potentially
winning 4 points for a forfeit rather than 3…forfeits must be
documented in the logfile). Your position in each Ladder is
determined solely by point totals. So, the more you win, the higher
your position on the ladders will be.

3. There will not be any custom extensions used in Ladder competition.
Extensions will be reserved for tournaments. From time to time
players who have successfully competed in the ladders will have the
opportunity to compete in tournaments. The tournaments will run
similarly to the way our "seasons" have run, but they will be less
frequent, and there will be prerequisites to participate. Tournaments
will run concurrently with the ladders, and more details about
tournaments will be posted as they come about.

4. There are opportunities for this format to add several variants,
such as ranking/bonus points; clan competition, medals, etc. For now,
we are going to try out the new format in a "basic" mode to see if it
indeed works better. We may gradually work in variants as the league
progresses.

We appreciate all the input various league members have given the Jedi
Council during the past few months. We hope that the new format will
improve the league and make it easier to participate. Again, for more
detailed rules, visit the Files section and click on the "New EDOL
Rules" text file. We anticipate the first Ladder beginning on July
1st. Keep checking the message board for more details.

Sincerely,

The Jedi Council
